Didgeridoo

The didgeridoo is the traditional instrument of the native Australians, the Aborigines.
The trunk of a eucalyptus tree, hollowed out by termites, forms one of the oldest wind instruments in the world, which is played as an accompaniment of songs and dances. The basic tone is created using a technique similar to that of playing a brass instrument, although the didgeridoo is always played using a circular breathing technique. This makes it possible to play a continuous drone over which effects are then created using the voice, tongue and cheeks. Meditative moods can be created as well as complex rhythm patterns.
