WOODWINDS

Okarina

Believed to date back to over 12,000 years this flute-like wind instrument has been of particular importance in Chinese and Mesoamerican cultures
(Mayas, Aztecs, Incas) before it was introduced to the courts of Europe. Depending on size and material (wood, clay, calabash plastic, metal) its sound varies from dark and smooth to very sharp and shrill.
